In this episode of The Revital Health Podcast, Jodi Duval is joined by Ratna Singh, CEO and Founder of CAR.O.L, a revolutionary fitness technology that is reshaping our approach to exercise. Ratna shares how artificial intelligence and cutting-edge science are changing the landscape of fitness, challenging the traditional views on how much exercise we truly need.
Ratna discusses how CAR.O.L is far more than just a piece of equipment – it’s like having an exercise physiologist, personal trainer, and mind trainer all in one. With CAR.O.L’s innovative technology, you can achieve optimal fitness with minimal time commitment. Ratna explains the concept of the “minimum effective dose” of exercise, making it possible to get the same results from just 9-minute workouts, performed 2-3 times a week, as you would from much longer sessions.
The episode explores how CAR.O.L’s unique approach to exercise, rooted in evolutionary fitness principles, helps with fat loss, cardiovascular fitness, and the depletion of glycogen stores. Ratna breaks down the science of AMPK and PGC1 alpha activation, which play key roles in the body’s response to exercise.
Listeners will also learn how CAR.O.L uses AI to personalise each workout, ensuring maximum efficiency with every session. Ratna answers common questions such as whether a shorter workout can still be effective and if you can get a meaningful workout even if you’re not sweating.
Ratna created CAR.O.L after observing the inactivity epidemic while running chronic disease management programs. She wanted to find a way to deliver shorter, effective workouts, inspired by the research of Dr. Niels Vollard, which demonstrated that two 20-second all-out sprints could have the same impact as a much longer workout.
Before founding CAR.O.L, Ratna had an impressive entrepreneurial career, selling her first startup to Safeway US, serving as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at McKinsey & Company, and co-founding health consultancy firm IHP, which later sold to PwC.
