What is
Red Light Therapy?
Red Light Therapy (also known as photobiomodulation) uses low-level wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to support the body at a cellular level.
When exposed to specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light capable of penetrating the dermal and subdermal layers, mitochondrial chromophores absorb photon energy, resulting in enhanced ATP production, reduction of oxidative stress, and downstream signalling that supports microcirculation, cellular repair, and inflammatory balance.
Maintains Skin Health
Red light is frequently used to stimulate fibroblast activity, promote capillary formation, and support dermal matrix integrity—contributing to skin vitality and peripheral circulation.
Inflammatory Regulation
Red light has been shown to affect cytokine signalling and may support the body’s immune system functioning.
Neural and
Muscular Function
Research suggests photobiomodulation influences muscle recovery, nerve function, and oxidative stress resilience.
Influences the
Nervous System
Photobiomodulation may influence the parasympathetic nervous system by affecting nitric oxide signalling and neurochemical balance, contributing to improved stress regulation and relaxation responses.
Improved Circulation
Light exposure may influence nitric oxide release, contributing to vasodilation and increased blood flow.
Improved Energy
Red and near-infrared light is absorbed by mitochondrial chromophores, supporting ATP (energy) production.
