My birth story to inspire and kick off the conversation for the latest podcast with my friend and midwife Naomi Newman.

After the birth of my first child Kaizen in 2012, it was a beautiful experience, however it didn’t go to plan as I had originally imagined. It was a 24 hour labour that ended with a transfer to the main hospital and all sorts of fear thrown our way, he was a natural birth with minor drug intervention and delayed cord clamping, skin to skin contact, no washing and a few other requests we made were carried out without an issue. I was thankful. However, given the heart opening nature of birth and pregnancy, I strived for even better the second time round.

As soon as I knew I was pregnant with Malie in 2017, I contacted my old friend and midwife, Naomi. I knew she was the one to support me to get there. I had to work through old patterns of fear and find myself at a deeper level to know I had the power to overcome this.

Both the births and pregnancies of my beautiful kiddies expanded me to another place on this planet.  Gave me the new awareness for my body and to be able to tune into a different form of consciousness that I had never been able to connect to before. I had a completely different respect for my body, for the miracle of pregnancy and birth and how my fascination for the human and human body and it’s potential grew exponentially.

Having the right caregiver and partner with you and throughout the whole process is one of the most important things to consider, a healthy body and an ability to let go of old emotions and habits with a complete trust in your body is also extremely important.

Here is a small peak into the birth of my daughter in water at home.

On the day before the birth, I went to a float session around lunch time. I was 39 weeks and 5 days. When I got home, I was making dinner, I thought I had a never ending wee coming, ohhh no it was my waters.

I pre-laboured all night on and off listening to relaxing music and meditation. I had been preparing for months before with hypnobirthing , belly dancing and medication practice as well as yoga.

Naomi came over in morning and told me, you must!!! relax and get someone to watch little boy, she told me and my husband to go for a swim at the beach and just let go. While I was still having contractions in the water, the main effective ones came in around 10am when we got home. My husband was amazing! He played diggeridoo, supported me, used  acupressure, smudged palo santo, sage, incense, played music and the Hant drum, he did it all!!!

It was intense in the front of my cervix the whole time and across my lower back. I was on my hands and knees and rocking and my pregnancy belly dancing skills came to help me to keep me active and releasing and letting go. Naomi came back over at 1 and I was in pool by 1:30, listening to music.

It was intense to feel myself loose control, Naomi kept saying to me it is not greater than you and listen to your body, it’s ok to push! It was intense I thought I couldn’t but I did, It was innate, beyond what I am, what we are!

I was pushed to my limits,  but it was the most profound experience.

My husband was my hero, my love, my support and totally at service to me! We are healed, an all natural, no intervention, just as nature intended in our living room in our sacred space, and having been cleared and blessed by Nicole at my sound healing blessing.

My heart exploded when Malie came, a relief and an overwhelm.

Then more intense contractions and the placenta was on its way. In 3 more it was there. The amazing service of the placenta was done and it continued pulsing for 1/2 hour and then my little boy was there in amazement of his little sister. He cut the cord with my husband and gave her a big kiss, cuddle and skin to skin just like us.

I felt woosy, high and happy all at the same time, spaced into another world of new life and creation and old lives coming together. I had left my body reached the stars and brought my baby girl back to the world.

She has taught me to slow, appreciate and let go of the insignificant and to open my heart more than I thought possible, Infinite love for both of them.
